What makes Berlin sightseeing a unique experience ?
We meet here! World Time was opened in 1969 and has been showing the time in the world’s different time zones ever since. What time is it in Shanghai right now? We’ll do a round of testing to see if you understand the function.
Short photo stop. The television tower, with the world clock and today’s ParkInn Hotel, is the German-Socialist splendor advance on Alex from 1969. Since then it has been the tallest building in Germany!
We’ll stop here briefly for more photos and a little background knowledge. The Neptune Fountain stands in the triangle between the television tower, St. Mary’s Church and the Red Town Hall. It was also placed here in 1969. From here we move away from the socialist Alexanderplatz and dive into medieval-enlightenment Berlin.
We stop briefly at the Marx-Engels Forum. Inaugurated in 1986, it is another real GDR monument. Who knows the scriptures and what they were thinking about?
Some time to learn about the role of the church in Berlin and check out the impressive Berlin Cathedral!
In the 20th century, Museum’s Island was born! I will show you around and tell you a little about the individual museums, the exhibitions and the general location of Museum’s Island. We include a short toilet break here.
One of these impressive train stations from 1882: Berlin-Friedrich-Street. I’ll tell you why this station is historically important and we will pass by to stroll alongside the banks of the Spree from where we can spot even more sights and if you don’t know, yet, I’ll show you!
From 1871, the Berlin Reichstag, today it is called Bundestag, here I’ll give my class about politics, tell you about the German democracy, it’s tradition and what all it has gone through (Hitler, Holocaust, War, Separation, Destruction and reestablishment)
Just a short photo stop here, I will also briefly inform you how old the Gate actually is!
We just pass by here, I’ll give you some time to take a moment of silence and think about the history of the holocaust at the memorial.
Last stop on the tour! We also call this area the Forum Federicanum, Berlin’s neoclassical renaissance, time to take a good breath and be knowledgable.
