Why choose this Berlin tour ?

Christmas Special – From 14 Nov to 22 Dec:
We add to our regular tour a special visit to the city’s one and only Medieval Christmas market! Experience the charm of Friedrichshain with live performances, handcrafted treasures, and a cozy cup of Gluhwein (mulled wine) to warm your journey.

East Berlin is a true melting pot and we have created an itinerary that explores the foods, events, and people who have helped shape the artistic neighborhood of Friedrichshain.
From the traditional Döner Kebabs that have been a Berlin mainstay since the end of World War 2 to the introduction of new Middle Eastern dishes from the 2015 refugees, we discover 6 food stops that represent the rich tapestry of Berlin cuisine which sets it apart as an international gastronomic hub.

Try the delicious Vietnamese TyTy Tacos – an exciting blend of Vietnamese flavours and German ingredients and 3 different Beers.
Part food tour, part historical and cultural experience, you’ll discover the true face of Berlin.

What makes East Berlin Food and History Walking Tour a unique experience ?

From November 14 to December 22, in addition to our regular route, we’ll take you to the city’s only Medieval Christmas market! The Friedrichshain Christmas Market is a traditional event with acrobatic entertainers, handcrafted arts, and wooden fairground rides.

As we explore, we’ll learn about German Christmas markets’ fascinating, controversial past and colourful present, all while indulging in a delicious glass of seasonal Gluhwein (mulled wine).

Boxi Spatshop; Boxhagener Strasse 76, 10245
A small liquor store where we enjoy a popular German beer and learn about it’s origins.

Berliner Kindl (Light) Beer

A Shawarma Döner eatery that demonstrates the dual history of Berlin’s street food and its Turkish and Middle-Eastern immigrants.

One of the last remaining Berlin Squat Houses that has hosted political and educational events and activities, alongside live concerts, for nearly a decade.

A neon-lit Vietnamese restaurant where we try ‘TyTy Tacos’, and innovative street food packed with flavor!

This vibrant and alternative space has been an imperial rail repair yard, a Soviet factory, and a Deutsche Bahn warehouse over its long life.

Now, it’s home to art galleries, indie record companies, night clubs, beer gardens, a bouldering hall, and the largest indoor skate park in Berlin!

Try the best and most famous currywurst in Berlin, where we discover how the iconic Berlin street food was created.

Schnitzel Burger + Berliner Pilsner Beer at our final stop, a compact Schnitzel Burger restaurant/club, where we discuss what life was like towards the end in East Berlin and the events leading to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

This historic open-air art gallery centres around the longest surviving stretch of the Berlin Wall. Standing at just over 1.3 miles from end to end, each individual segment is coated in a colourful and often politically-themed mural that has been in place for over twenty years.

A friendly restaurant with Syrian and Levante cuisines, where we try a traditional Mezze dish.
