You’ll meet your guide right in front of one of the most interesting buildings of the city. It’s entrance – and our meeting point – was defined the most beautiful angle of Berlin. Our guide will start the tour telling you some interesting facts about this building housing actually a museum.
You’ll then walk over to another nearby, historical building, the “Knoblauchhaus”. This is one of the few historical buildings of Berlin, that wasn’t destroyed during WWII.
After crossing the river Spree, you’ll arrive at the “Lustgarten” (Pleasure Garden) on the Museum Island. It’s close to the Berlin City Palace and was once part of it. Here you can also admire the Berlin Cathedral, that your guide will show and explain to you from the in- and outside.
You’ll then continue your walk on one of the most important streets of Berlin – Unter den Linden. It conducts from the City Palace straight to the Brandenburg Gate and in the past it was the best-known and grandest street of Berlin.
You’ll then see the Berlin State Opera House – once the Royal Opera House and then the House of the State Opera of East Germany. The building was under reconstruction between 2009 and 2017 and is now open to the public again.
Next you’ll visit St. Hedwig’s Cathedral which is a Catholic Church, whilst the Berlin Cathedral is Evangelical. It was the first Catholic Church built in Prussia after the Reformation and is today the seat of the Archbishop of Berlin.
You’ll then visit one of the most famous squares of Berlin – the Gendarmenmarkt – and the buildings around it: Berlin Concert Hall, the French and German Churches. This square is not only a must during your stay in the Capital of Germany, but it’s also hosting one of its most popular Christmas markets.
Over “Unter den Linden”-Street you’ll reach then the most famous square of Berlin – Pariser Platz and the symol of the city – Brandenburg Gate. You’ll admire it from as close as possible and your guide will tell you all the fascinating facts about its past and present.
You’ll finish your Highlights of Berlin tour in front of the famous Reichstag Building with its impressive glass dome, seat of the German Parliament.
