Berlin Trip Overview
Join me for a journey through the center of Berlin – and nearly 800 years of fascinating history. In four hours we will jump between different periods of time in history: the rise and decline of the Hohenzollern dynasty and the Prussian kingdom, the second German empire, the two World Wars and the time between them, the 12 dreadful years of the Nazi regime, as well as the years of division and the life behind the Berlin Wall.
During this tour we will see the must-see monuments and historical sites, as well as some hidden corners, remnants and marks from all the political shifts that Berlin knew. These places and the stories behind them will help us sink into the rich history of the city and allow us to connect the dots into the present, and understand how Berlin became what it is – maybe the most fascinating city on earth.

Stop At: Alexanderplatz, 10178 Berlin Germany
Next to St. Mary’s Church, Berlin’s first church we will look at a city model from 1880 which will help us understand howthis area changed in the last 140 years. We will also speak about the buildings around – the Red City Hall and the TV Tower.

Pass By: Marx-Engels-Forum, Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse, 10178 Berlin Germany
Where we will see some unusual remnants from the times of the cold war
Stop At: Neue Wache, Unter den Linden 4, 10117 Berlin Germany
We will walk along the Unter Den Linden, the main entrance street to Berlin and enter one memorial from the early 19th century which changed its name and purpose more than once, encapsulating the political shifts Berlin knew quite well

Stop At: Museum Island, Breite Street, 13089 Berlin Germany
We will speak about the historical buildings around the square – the Berliner Dom, the City Palace which was destroyed in WWII and the Old Museum. We will also hear about the changes the place knew, especially during the years of the Nazi regime.
We will not enter the museums or the cathedral.

We will hear the story of the Twin Churches and Berlin’s development in the time after the 30 Years War

In front of the main building of Berlin’s first university, we will hear about one of the first violent acts from the time of the Nazi regime – the book burning, and see the memorial for this event, hidden underneath the square

We will hear about the clashhes in the most tense border crossing in the days of the cold war

We will see an authentic segment of the Berlin Wall and hear about it’s history, as well as some adpects of life in a devided city

We will discover the wherabouts of Hitler’s Bunker, which looks like an innocent residential block nowadays, and try to understand how it looked like in order times

We will explore the memorial and hear about the ideas behind it’s design
