The Fastnachbrunnen consists of over 200 figures, all of which represent the joy of life in Mainz. The sight of the nine meter high bubbling work of art puts you in a good mood.

Stop At: St. Stephan’s Church (Stephanskirche), Kleine Weissgasse 12, 55116 Mainz, Rhineland-Palatinate Germany
St. Stephen’s Church was founded in 990 by Archbishop Willigis on the highest elevation in the city. It has become famous beyond the borders of Mainz through the nine windows created by Marc Chagall (Chagall windows). The tour of the church and the windows is from the outside!

Mainz Cathedral was founded by Archbishop Willigis in 975 and is one of the oldest monumental vaulted buildings in Germany. (Visit from the outside!)

The Nail Column in Mainz is a column erected on Liebfrauenplatz in front of the east side of Mainz Cathedral during the First World War and has an exciting history.

The market is the largest of the four squares around the Mainz Cathedral. One of the most beautiful weekly markets in Mainz takes place here three days a week (Tues., Fri. & Sat.). If there is no market, you can enjoy the view of the cathedral or visit one of the many beautiful cafés around.
