Itinerary

Day 1: Munich – Austria – Italy (Brixen/South Tyrol)

Pass By: Maria Ramersdorf Kirche, Ramersdorfer Str. 6, 81669 Munich, Bavaria Germany
We carefully curate our selection of Christmas markets for each tour to give you the ultimate tour experience. At the same time, this is YOUR exclusive tour, so we welcome your suggestions and do our best to accommodate your wishes. Whether you prefer to stay longer at one stop or add a whole new one, let us know and we’ll adapt your bespoke tour accordingly.

… but now: Sit back and relax, rest assured that you are in good hands with your friendly & professional tour guide, who will take you on eventful, informative yet relaxing excursions in a new Volkswagen Comfort Van.

… at the old pilgrimage church of St. Maria Ramersdorf from the 14th century we leave Munich and take the Autobahn (motorway) heading South …

Pass By: Bergisel Ski Jump, Bergiselweg 3, Innsbruck 6020 Austria
When we see the famous Bergisel ski jump, you can decide: Do we drive straight on to the Brenner motorway and be at the Italian border in 30 minutes, or do we make a short stop beforehand to visit one of Innsbruck’s most atmospheric Christmas markets?

Stop At: Vipiteno, Vipiteno, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
Finally ‘Bella Italia’ – only 20 kilometers behind the Brenner Passo we reach our 1st Christmas market in Italy – and this is also a real highlight: In the medieval town of Sterzing you will be welcomed by one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in South Tyrol, the sweet scent of freshly baked “Spitzbuam” and ‘Stollen’ rises with the crackling of the fireplaces in the air – experience Christmas with all your senses! (open daily from 10 a.m.)
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Bressanone, Bressanone, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
After another 30 minutes drive in our comfortable VW Minivan, we reach our symphatic overnight destination for the next two nights, the former episcopal city of Brixen. In the main town of the Eisack valley with its 22,500 inhabitants there is of course also a Christmas market – one of the “Top 5” of South Tyrol: The traditional Brixener Christkindlmarkt takes place on the beautiful Cathedral Square. The venerable cathedral with its 800-year-old Gothic cloister gives the market a very special flair! (open daily 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.). The accommodation costs for your guide are already included in the tour price, but not for you and your group! We will be happy to advise you on the search for accommodation and help you with your reservation.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Brunico, Brunico, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
(optional): If you want to visit another of the “Top 5” South Tyrolean Christmas Markets today, we recommend a detour to Bruneck, 45 minutes away. Here in the beautiful Pustertal valley you will find the Christmas market in a perfect setting: partly located at the so-called Graben and partly within the middle city walls between the 4 city gates. Typical South Tyrolean products are offered, but also a large selection of Christmas decorations and gift ideas (open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)

Day 2: Italian Alps: Brixen – Klobenstein – Meran – Bozen – Brixen (South Tyrol)

Stop At: Collalbo, Collalbo, Renon, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
(recommended only in fine weather): This day starts right away, that means after a 45-minute ride, with a special experience: A state-of-the-art “3-S cable car” takes us to the starting point to the “Rittner Christbahnl” at 1,220 m / 4,000 ft altitude. Even if the Christmas markets are open only from Friday to Sunday, the trip to this high plateau is always worthwhile: the “Rittner Christbahnl”, which is actually called the Rittner Bahn, is the last narrow gauge railway still running in South Tyrol. The route, which opened in 1907, now runs between the adorable villages of Oberbozen and Klobenstein, with a journey time of 16 minutes, modern and historic train sets. Enjoy not only a trip into another world, but also the overwhelming panorama of the Dolomites! (Prices for round trip both cable car and train: € 16.00 p.p.) *****(In less good weather, or if you wish so, we drive to St. Ulrich in Val Gardena…) *****
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Ortisei, Ortisei, Val Gardena, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
(optional):
The world-famous Val Gardena is not only a good address when it comes to acquiring traditional wood carvings, but also to enjoy the special pre-Christmas atmosphere. Because nowhere can Advent be experienced as intensely as here – in the heart of the Dolomites. In St. Ulrich (Ortisei) the main town of the valley, the atmospheric Christmas market with its rustic wooden huts is rounded off with a daily changing programme of events. (open daily from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and 7 and 8 December from 11 a.m.)
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Merano, Merano, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
The traditional Merano Advent Market awaits you along the enchanting spa promenade. A special Christmas atmosphere is provided by the medieval stalls, which offer honey wine, a fire tong bowl or grilled buckwheat dumplings, for example. But traditional craftsmanship can also be found.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Bolzano, Bolzano, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
Every year, the historic old town of Bolzano invites you to one of the largest and most traditional Christmas markets in Italy. Fairy lights and garlands, the sweet scent of Christmas pastries, contemplative Christmas carols: this is how the centre of Bolzano around the Piazza Walther shows up at Christmas time. Around 80 decorated stalls attract people from near and far to the city with their products (open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Stop At: Chiusa – Klausen, Chiusa Italy
On the way back we avoid the motorway and drive along the old Brennerstraße. During a short stop in Klausen, you can admire the historic old town, which is dominated by a medieval castle.

Day 3: Brixen – Trento/Trentino OR Bruneck/South Tyrol – Austria – Munich

After a short stroll through the Christmas-decorated old town we reach the second market, located on the Piazza de Fiera. After so many wonderful impressions, you will probably find it difficult to say goodbye – then we offer you the possibility to extend the tour by one or more days! By train we drive back to Brixen, where our car is waiting for us right at the train station! (geöffnet täglich 10 – 19 Uhr)
Duration: 5 hours

Stop At: Brunico, Brunico, Province of South Tyrol, Trentino-Alto Adige
If you don’t want to go to Trento, the Christmas market of Bruneck in the Pustertal valley awaits you (description see day 1) or we recommend one or more Christmas markets or excursion destinations across the borders in Austria!
Duration: 2 hours

Pass By: Europabruecke, Innsbruck Austria
After crossing the “Europa-Brücke” beyond the Italian-Austrian border, one of the highest European bridges (190 meters above ground), we can return to Munich on two exciting routes: Christmas market highlights such as Hall in Tirol, Kufstein or Seefeld in Tyrol and Garmisch-Partenkirchen can be on the programme as well as the fascinating Swarovski Crystal Worlds.

Stop At: Swarovski Kristallwelten, Kristallweltenstrasse 1, Wattens 6112 Austria
(Optional):
Especially at Christmas time, the magnificent sparkle of the countless Swarovski Crystals is an impressive experience!
Experience this unique place of imagination created for the centenary of Swarovski by multimedia artist André Heller:
17 chambers of wonder and an enchanting garden seduce with art, design and architecture.

As an oversized advent calendar, the facades of the medieval town center of the former salt pan town shine. This envelops the romantic Christmas market of Hall in Tirol in a unique atmosphere of lights, which is very traditional – in keeping with the medieval backdrop of the city: every day brass bands and choirs enchant the visitors with Christmas music, and a fire show makes many spectators big eyes!
