Stop At: Ayinger Brewery, Muenchener Str. 21, 85653 Aying, Bavaria Germany

Welcome to Ayinger!

The deep roots in this region, which we can reach after only about 30 minutes by car, continuously deepened over generations, form the nutrient base of the Ayinger Brewery. The quality of the beer, consistently awarded numerous prizes for its excellence, is consequently not just based on the select ingredients of our region and the capacities of our brewing art. Equally important is the spirit and the very values with which the craft were performed for over 130 years.

Strong financial, social and cultural commitment is therefore firmly incorporated into the production of Ayinger beers – in the company, in the community and in the entire region. Beyond the realm of the world-famous Ayinger beer specialties, these crucial components have also contributed to creating a unique brand name philosophy.

Enjoy your first stop in the cosy Ayinger Bräustüberl or its beautiful beer garden (and/or take part in a Brewery tour – possible on selected days and only on request)

Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes

Stop At: Kloster Reutberg – Sachsenkam, 83679 Sachsenkam, Germany

In the middle of the magnificent Upper Bavarian Pre-Alpine landscape, not far from an idyllic bathing lake, is the Franciscan monastery Reutberg.

From the beer garden you have an incredible panoramic view of the Alpine chain, the historic indoor “Stuben” invite you in cooler temperatures.

300 years of the Reutberg monastery brewery and more than 50 years of the Reutberg cooperative brewery are good capital for the delicious monastery beer which is made from selected, best raw materials and with traditional, centuries-old monastic brewing art.

With this pure beer enjoyment and a tempting selection of Bavarian dishes, don’t miss a visit to the overwhelming baroque monastery church!

Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes

Stop At: Bräustüberl Tegernsee, Schloßpl. 1, 83684 Tegernsee, Germany

Located directly in the former monastery building with its adjoining ‘HTB-Brewery’ and on the lake shore, the Tegernseer Bräustüberl is one of the most famous and popular places in the entire region!

Bavarian brewing started with the monasteries. You shouldn’t imagine large breweries when you think of this though –brewing was just one of many professions performed in the monasteries by hand by monks and worldly servants. The Benedictine monastery of Tegernsee was founded in the year 746. The earliest date, from which we can be sure that beer was brewed here, can be found on a marble plate on the wall between the pub table and the bar in the Bräustüberl: “The monastery brewery of Tegernsee obtained electoral license for the sale of beer on 22 Feb 1675”. This was the date of the official birth of Tegernsee Bräustüberl. To this day, a visit to the Tegernseer Bräustüberl is a Must for both local and foreign beer lovers!

Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes

Stop At: Gut Kaltenbrunn by Käfer, Kaltenbrunn 1, 83703 Gmund am Tegernsee, Germany

Gut Kaltenbrunn, located on the panoramic north shore of lake Tegernsee, was developed by the Bavarian King Max I. Joseph into a model farm. Today it is operated by the Munich “Delicasies-King” Käfer. Here you can enjoy first class food or traditional beergarden dishes with 5-star views over the lake.

Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes

Stop At: Inselbräu Frauenchiemsee, Frauenchiemsee 28, 83256 Frauenchiemsee, Germany

After 1 hour drive we reach lake Chiemsee, the largest lake in Bavaria. The ferry (€ 9.90 per adult extra) takes us to the tiny island “Fraueninsel”, where numerous sights and the “Inselbräu” await us. In 2006, this microbrewery was founded by the studied master brewer Daniel Hagen, who grew up at this lovely place.

With more than 10 years of experience, he adheres to the proven principle of using only regional products that are carefully and sustainably produced from controlled organic farming. So comes the brewing barley from the Chiemgau, and the hops, of course, from the Hallertau. The results, the “Inselbräu Helles Zwickel” and “Inselbräu Weissbier” are to be proud of.

Wine lovers will not miss out here either, as interestingly, the host’s brother, Holger Hagen, runs his own winery in southern Austria.

The Bavarian cuisine in the cosy ‘Bräustüberl’ or beer garden spoils with an extensive selection, including freshly caught Chiemsee fish or oven-fresh ‘Beer roastl’.

Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes

Stop At: Schloss Herrenchiemsee, 83209, Herreninsel, Bavaria Germany

OPTIONAL: Visit the largest, most expensive and most magnificent castle of the Bavarian “fairytale king” Ludwig II. We can disembark on the return trip to the island “Herreninsel” so as not to miss this top sight!
Herrenchiemsee Palace is an almost exact replica of Versailles, the residence of the French king Louis XIV. who was very venerated by Ludwig (price for the 30-minute guided tour of the castle: € 9.00 per adult, children under 18 are free!) It takes 20 minutes to walk from the pier to the palace, or enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride.

After this impressive experience, you can have one last drink in the magnificent beer garden of a former monastery building with magnificent views over the lake, before heading back to Munich after a 15-minute boat ride and 1 hour in our Comfort Minivan.
