Stop At: The Eagle’s Nest, dokumentatIon Obersalzberg, 83471 Berchtesgaden, Bavaria Germany
Our second stop. We purchase tickets for the bus to take us up to the top which lasts around 40 minutes one way. Bus pass is not included in the price. We then walk through the tunnel to the lift that will take us to Eagles Nest. Great photo opportunities abound here with vies of both Austria and Germany. We then walk down part of the way to the bus stop that will then take us back to our car.

Stop At: Salzburg, Salzburg, Austrian Alps
Salzburg is a 30 minute drive from Eagles Nest. We usually stop for lunch and then do a walking tour of the old town which includes many of the Sound of Music sights. Marienplatz, Nonntal Abbey, Stiegl Brewery, Mozart’s birth house, Getreide Gasse and many more sights are covered in this two hour walking tour. No worries, there will also be time for some shopping.

We have the option to see the island of St. Bartholomew if the weather is bad and one is unable to go up to the Eagles Nest

We pass by Bavaria’s largest Lake on the way to Eagles Nest. We also have the option of visiting Herrenchiemsee Castle instead of Eagles Nest if the weather is bad.
